It was sad to see Farooq Sheikh go. This is a big loss to nation and entire humanity. There are very few examples today who can match his sobriety and humanity. He performed with dignity and a very high degree of development of human emotions. Today's life is getting more and more deprived of such emotions. It is very rare to see true human emotions in cinema today which is now focusing more on xyz crore club. Emotions if at all displayed, looks fake. This lack of human emotions in life exactly is the reason we see frustration and negativity in society.

It is commonly said that film industry is all about business and it is not their responsibility to give any social message. This is where people like Farooq Sheikh gave how it should be. True it is work and business even then it can be done in a way that it helps society in human development be it emotions, art, culture and other human aspects. After all we all know the impact of media and especially celebrities like cine stars who can do wonders for the society. Cinema reflects but it also affects mindset of people.

The overall grace and sobriety in cinema must be held high. People in industry must realize that they owe a lot to society and must feel motivated to think beyond money and think about good cinema and human development both on screen and off screen that can boost art, culture, sobriety and other positive human aspects in society.

Time to wake up the sober human being within.

Nation's task

India can not and should not wait for another 100 years to eliminate evils of society.

World is moving ahead fast. India can not afford to let social evils harm its culture and spirit any further. This will affect the growth of India in a bad way. See for example how evils like communalism, regionalism, naxalism, corruption, crime against women, child labor, drug addiction, illiteracy and others are hurting. India can not rise high till these and other such are tackled. These are proving big barriers in development.

No doubt that many people are working day and night to make India a better place but that is not sufficient. India has huge population and problems are enormous. Piecemeal approach can only make small changes and can generate awards but no real change. Country has witnessed that in case of anti rape law. There was agitation, there is new law but still we have same bad stories day and night. We need much more organized and coordinated effort. Otherwise inspite of efforts the problems will continue to be there and will infact prove as bad damaging factor in development story of India.

We need to set our target of Modern Developed Glorified India not as something to happen in 100 years but something to happen in 10 - 15 years. This is not impossible if we make well coordinated organized effort on high intensity level. Different NGO's working as separate units is a waste of precious resources be it human effort, time, money etc. All honest, hard working, intelligent and wise people must coordinate their efforts in fighting such evils.

It's time to set and work on Nation's Tasks.

No one in country should suffer or die due to lack of food, water, shelter, warm clothing and essential medical care. Nothing can be more shameful for a country to let people die for lack of these like that is happening with riot victims or those who live on streets.

Lokpal Bill

Everyone in India agree that corruption must be eliminated. It is causing big harm to entire nation. People are making effort in their own capacity to make things better. One such attempt is Lokpal Bill. There are two kinds of debates going on.

Is this Lokpal good?

Who should get credit for it?

Lokpal is good or not will be decided by time. If it eliminates corruption, then it is good otherwise not. A year or two will make this clear.

And who should take credit for it? No one. When someone do something for nation, it is not for credit or fame. A man in service of nation must first give up selfishness, ego and desires. Like Mahatma Gandhi. Did he ask for any credit for what he did for Independence and other big changes in society? If he did not then no one has any right to seek any credit for anything done. It is for people to judge and time to decide. Infact this is the real test. A real person in service of nation will never seek credit either directly or through supporters.

And how to remove corruption? Strong Lokpal and other such laws for not only government servants but entire population. Be it a serviceman, businessman, professional or any other person.

-  Target zero corruption and zero black money.
-  Stop 500 and 1000 Rupee notes.
-  Create online databank of all real estate properties, lockers, shares, credit card, bank account etc to eliminate benami or black transactions. Every single property, locker, credit card, bank account and share must have PAN No associated, let people claim them through self disclosure. All unclaimed properties, lockers, shares, credit card, bank account must be frozen and finally confiscated and go to government.  
-  Any private business owner or professional or service provider with giving fake or no receipt must be penalized.

How to stop sexual crimes like rape

People of Delhi can probably recall case of Sanjay and Geeta Chopra. The two, Ranga Billa in that case were caught for various crimes and were hanged. But that did not change anything. Years have passed. It has gone from bad to worse. Let there be as many new laws but nothing will change. Laws cannot control mind. People find way out.

What should be done to control such things? TV debates will certainly not stop all this.

It has to be comprehensive restructuring of system to put discipline in place. Some of the steps can be:

- Society has to adopt zero tolerance to crime against women, become vigilant and remain so without a blink
- Effective laws and speedy trials of offenses
- Effective security at public places and public transport
- Making girls and women aware about threats and skills to avoid these
- Collective voice against eve teasing and sexual crimes, women must speak up strongly if they face any such thing
- Sex education and Moral values education in schools
- Giving opportunity to people to sublime sexual energies in constructive manner
- Identify offenders in bud and involve them in personality correction programs
- Stop 'selling' sex in media, movies etc
- And most important is to have 'Federation for Women' as given in the Swaraj Model. Such federation should be active, alert and effective.

Human rights of LGBT in India

Unfortunate, unfair and regressive.

Even today it is so difficult to understand that why human rights are denied to some when it is established that their orientation is not unnatural?

Why law makers are not taking a clear and correct stand on this?

This will put a large number of people under big stress and will hurt them socially, psychologically and in other aspects. When all medical authorities have concluded that such orientations are not abnormal or unnatural, then how can this be termed as crime.

Now law makers must immediately amend the law if we actually care for human rights. How long we will keep talking big about humanity and act otherwise???

What  a low our society is going through. Who is responsible for this? Those who did, yes but more than that those who were supposed to prevent such incident. Be it this incident or sexual harassment at work place or rapes.

Do we really care or we just talk and debate???

Nation fooling itself

The reason why India is not a top sporting nation revealed today. There is no harm in giving Bharat Ratna to a sports person. In fact every citizen of India is a born Bharat Ratna. All that is required is to create a good atmosphere and let people perform their best. And the 'good atmosphere' means fairness, non discrimination along with use of some common sense. Many great champions are destroyed by unfairness and poor conditions.

First of all cricket is too much hyped. A game played by eight to ten countries and people shout claiming to be world champion. Please wake up and think about hockey, football, tennis, athletics, swimming and others. India is still no where in most of these as seen in Olympics. We have gone down in our national game. What a shame. Even in poor atmosphere some great sporting personalities have done wonders brought big and real pride for India. But they are not Bharat Ratna.

And even if you think about cricket, think again. Think of the great spinners who mesmerized batsmen, the man who helped in defeating mighty West Indies on their home soil, the man who helped India win first world cup when no one expected, the man who gave fighting spirit to Team India. Some good players are not even given due consideration when they leave field. People forget they too performed for country and much brilliantly.

The point is not any person or award. It is the priorities and the attitude which is deprived of fairness, priorities and common sense. One unfair decision leads to millions more. It affects mindset of people. Manipulation, prejudice, abuse of power, impulsiveness leading to whimsical disorderly state. In the end country suffers and does not reach the height it should. This is what has happened. It is the system and the nation which is defeated but the people are celebrating. Alas!

And stop saying that all this happens because we are emotional people. We are not. If we were there won't be millions of people dying of hunger and lack of proper treatment. There is surge of billionaires with enormous wealth, celebrities and influential people with enormous ability to move people towards order and better system but no one is interested in country. Either we think of accumulating wealth and do nothing for country or even if we do that is just a token effort. There is no consistent, collective effort to eradicate problems from the country. And the result is rich people with big names but half of the country is malnourished. Small countries with less resources are racing ahead and we are busy in watching cricket.

Uthasthi Bharatha ! Wake up India please WAKE UP.

Can India be India without the Spirit of India

How can India function like this. Will India remain India without justice and fairness.

Common people in Mumbai are target and facing demolition of their houses. Why such illegal constructions are allowed? Why not prevent such constructions at first place than to demolish them and affecting lives of innocent citizens. Why not hold the builder and officials responsible for this and other such constructions. Why single out a single building, what about other similar buildings. When in Delhi unauthorized colonies can be regularized, why can't this building be regularized? Innocent people should not suffer for what has been done by others.

Country is celebrating the moment when one great sports person will say good bye to field. Entire country is showering praise. Not bad at all but have we done same to those whose contribution was also big if not bigger. Did they not serve the country or made India proud? Is it not unfair to them when such bias occurs? When will India learn to rise above worshiping people. No doubt he has done country proud. More than game it is the national spirit and humanity which has been served by him. All this is good but what about the game and also other games. Cricket has seen worst kind of manipulation and betting. There is no system, no order, no fairness, no accountability. There is talk of making betting legal and earn. Let all gambling be legal and that will add to greatness of India. What kind of wisdom is this?

Manipulation, unfairness and injustice has become a norm. This is seen in every aspect right from politics to sports to academics to working culture even in noble profession like one of doctors and lawyers. What a shame.

Tolerance and acceptance of evils is the worst thing we can do to India. India will not be India without the Spirit of India.

Light your mind

Diwali is festival of lights. There are big celebrations. People decorate houses with lights, meet near and dear and share happiness. This is going on since ages. But has it made people any better. Festivals should not be rituals. Every festival gives a message to be wiser and create a better life. Light your mind before you light your house. Eliminate the darkness of ignorance, selfishness, dishonesty, hatred and manipulation.

India suffers from two major ills, I more important than we and second Manipulation over fairness. These two evils are like deathless demons, will not die but change form person to person, society to society and from time to time. Till these two are there no celebration is complete.

And for God sake please ban crackers. They only create pollution.

Its time for us to become mature and sensible.

Road safety

It can be seen as accident or bad driving. But in the end this is another disaster that has taken 45 precious lives including infants. No one should say that yes sad but what can be done it was accident.

Behind every accident is negligence. Accidents can be avoided if we adopt safety measures:

- Better roads, make sure there are no holes, obstructions, unnecessary dividers, stones or other things lying on roads.
- Stronger traffic rules, no parking or standing on roads especially highways. Vigilance during night and early hours to check high speed.
- Better and clearer instructions and warnings on roads
- Better drivers by having stricter driving license testing especially for public transport
- Easy emergency doors and windows not to be auto locked by central locking.
- Fire extinguishers within range of every seat

Too many lives have been lost in such tragic accidents. Make a commitment today that you will never drive unsafe and also will not allow others including drivers of public transport to drive unsafe. Late by few minutes or even hours is better than never.

Dig for real gold

Some people in India are digging for gold. No harm, if they find it might help country a bit. The harm is not in digging but in not digging where it is required. The harm is in attitude which is too much money oriented and that too 'finding' money not earning it.

Look at the world. There are examples of countries which ruled the world and looted but even then they do not stand anywhere. On the other hand there are countries which are not blessed with resources but they have worked hard and used brain to 'create' wealth not only once but they rise from disaster every time within no time.

The problem is attitude. Every citizen of India is worth 1000 times more than 1000 tonnes of gold. But you need to dig. Nurture the citizens with nutritious food, quality education and healthcare and then dig. The brilliant brains from India can create wealth which can be enormous.

There is no digging yet in the research mine. The new patent products can create more gold than present on earth. There is no digging yet on knowledge mine. Our universities do not rank high in world. There is no digging yet in industrialization. We are not selling products around the world. There is no digging yet in creativity. Our books, movies, music can earn more money that this gold. There is no digging yet in sports which can earn gold medals more worth than this gold. There is no digging yet in tourism which alone can wipe out poverty from India.

Why should we get crazy about 'found' money? Let it remain inside. Let us dig deep inside ourself to get the real gold from within - the gold of humanity, the gold of wisdom, the gold of excellence, the gold of industriousness, the gold of love - THE GOLD OF REAL INDIA.

Need for collective wisdom

Last one year has seen substantial change in India and Indian democracy. Going through agitations, court orders and public opinion, India could gain following major steps towards a better democracy and a better society:

- New law against Crime Against Women
- Right to Reject in elections
- Right to Food
- Supreme Court order on Representation of the People Act

And when on 2nd October, the ordinance and the bill to counter Supreme Court order was taken back, it came as a great victory of India and the People of India. There could not have been a greater homage to Mahatma Gandhi on this special day.

- Government must issue credit and debit card in association with some public sector bank. These credit and debit card should charge fixed one percent that should go to government as service tax. Create online databank of all real estate properties, lockers, shares, credit card, bank account etc to eliminate benami or black transactions. Every single property, locker, credit card, bank account and share must have PAN No associated, let people claim them through self disclosure. All unclaimed properties, lockers, shares, credit card, bank account must be frozen and finally confiscated and go to government.  Any private business owner or professional or service provider with fake or no receipt must be penalized. Declare black money kept abroad as national asset, bring it back in time bound manner and impose heavy action on people / organization / banks helping in such activity. Such acts of corruption where nations assets are looted must be declared as crime against nation. There must be a federation against corruption by activist. Whenever any activist like RTI activist fighting against corruption is harassed, this federation must take up the issue further. This will also save such fighters life.

-          Fake currency - Reduce need of cash, promote plastic money, stop high currency notes and impose strict action on those indulging in such activity.

-          Crime especially against children, women and elderly  - Research and reforms should be the main weapon to fight crimes. Reform early in life. Develop healthy personality. Life skill training.

-          Disasters -  Anticipate, prevent and manage. Strict policy on environment protection. Public awareness and training.

-          Illiteracy  - Time bound complete literacy mission.

-          Malnutrition – Right to food and health to eliminate malnutrition.

-          Drug addiction  - Should be declared national problem. Manage through education, awareness, counseling, early detection and support. Social acceptance of those affected and rehabilitation.
