She is alive

She is alive, in our resolve to bring about change so that it never happens again. There is immense sadness and anguish in our hearts. But let there be no blame game again. Because that will hurt the cause. We are all responsible. We were sleeping as a nation but no more.

India is awakened by one girl.

We did nothing to avoid the tragedy and millions more such tragedies which are occurring in each city and village. Atrocities against women, children, helpless poor people. We want to become a global giant but our own citizens are suppressed, harassed and killed. But now we must resolve not to go back to sleep. We have to work constantly and unitedly. And this work should not stop at rallies, debates, march etc. People of India need to come together, get united and chalk down time bound action plan.

If today we really feel that things should change then come together, get united and work. Work, don't just speak. People are giving many suggestions. Some of them are very good. Let there be panel from public which will note them down and then people have to see that those suggestions gets implemented effectively in time bound manner and remain implemented. And all this is possible if people of India work towards this in a unified manner.

Work for it India, you owe it to her.

Stop this mindlessness

This is not done. This is no way to manage issues. Entire country is angry at repeated crimes specially crimes against women. But the way such crucial issue is handled by both government and the people is not proper at all. Violence is absurd. Those who are protesting must make sure that their protest should be peaceful, methodical and should be well directed towards constructive solution. And at the same time government should be proactive and sensitive in handling such situations. They should have immediately addressed to people's sentiments in appropriate manner. The use of excessive force against people demonstrating for a cause is poor handling.

Government must understand that police can not handle emotions. The rising anger and frustration among people is very dangerous for the country. This is damaging. We are one country and a democratic one. Why it should reach a situation where people need to come out on streets for every issue. This is people's government and it must listen to people of the country. There are many serious issues which our country is facing. People's participation is must if we want effective solutions and good administration. But unfortunately there is a big gap between people and government. There must a working system to address public concern so that for every issue people need not come to streets. This is where we need Federations selected by entire population who are from respective fields and carry people's concern to the government and get the job done.

For example in this case we should have had a Federation for Women. Prominent women who have worked for years for women's cause could be elected through online polling in which entire country participates. Their work should be published online so that people can select. Such federation would remain in touch with people of the country and would work towards betterment of women. They will gather suggestions from people and based on that they will coordinate with government to find effective and constructive solutions for the problems related to Women's Welfare in a time bound manner. This and other such Federations as given in Swaraj Model here can become effective people's voice as they will act on people's suggestions through online referendum.

One appeal to the country. Do not get into chaos and anarchy. We can solve problems in a sensible and peaceful manner. It is good to raise voice but do it in a methodical, peaceful, united and well directed manner. We should remain focused towards betterment of country. Heated discussions and directionless demonstrations will not serve the purpose. So get united and act meaningfully.

Hope in anger

Country has learned to speak for itself.

The anger expressed by people of India against gangrape in Delhi in itself is encouraging in one way. It is good that people are raising voice against social evils. It shows that people are getting more and more frustrated with the bad conditions under which they are forced to live. People of India want to change this.

This anger is very much required if we need to make India a better place to live. And we need to make sure that this anger should continue until there are some concrete and effective changes. This anger should not remain limited to heated debates and demonstrations. Early trial and severe punishment is must in this case but at the same time that alone is not sufficient. People of India have to make sure that effective steps including changes in laws, fast track courts, improvement in security and mindset is achieved. Till then this anger should continue in a peaceful and constructive manner. It should remain focused and be well directed to achieve the desirable goal of betterment of society and complete safety for women.

Mere punishment will not stop rapes

Another life destroyed by rape. Shame. It is good that at last country is reacting strongly to rape. This has become a big blot on Indian society. Unfortunately country wakes up when someone is destroyed beyond repair. But a caution here. People are angry and demanding severe punishment. And once such severe punishment is given, we have to make sure that we do not fall to slumber again as if justice has been done.

Justice will not be done untill we make our society safe for women and learn to give respect to them. And everyone has a role to play - schools, media, police, parents, law making bodies and even our film industry. We need to change our mindset. If we think only giving punishment is going to stop rapes then be sure that will not happen.

It is time country wakes up to reality and make collective efforts to put an end to such crimes. There should be a comprehensive plan involving every section of society.

- Society has to become vigilant and remain so without a blink
- Effective laws and speedy trials of offenses
- Effective security at public places and public transport
- Making girls and women aware about threats and skills to avoid these
- Collective voice against eve teasing and sexual crimes, women must speak up strongly if they face any such thing
- Sex education and Moral values education in schools
- Giving opportunity to people to sublime sexual energies in constructive manner
- Identify offenders in bud and involve them in personality correction programs
- Stop 'selling' sex in media, movies etc
- And most important is to have 'Federation for Women' as given in the Swaraj Model here. Such federation should be active, alert and effective.

We must understand that like most problems in India, rapes are common due to deficiency in governance which is due to huge gap between people of India and the government. There is immediate need of making of effective federations for effective governance. People's participation is must for safe, healthy and vibrant society.
