The Indian Defense Services has once again done a wonderful job in saving thousands of precious lives. Time and again Defense Services of India has done such great jobs for the country. We all must show gratitude. Every year there must be a gratitude day to express the respect like flag day. And more important nation must make sure that families of those in security services will always be taken care.

There are some who sacrifice everything even their life to make others safe and happy. They expect nothing. They boast never. Such is their spirit. We salute real heroes of India. And we must pledge that we will do our bit for the nation.

We must have National Defense Services Fund to which every citizen can contribute. This fund should take care of all families of soldiers and make sure that they do not suffer. Their healthcare, education and other needs must be taken care with bowed head.

Disaster management in India

Disaster happened in Uttarakhand. Loss of human lives is irreparable.

There is intense debate going on about how it is man made disaster and how it was avoidable. One thing is undeniably true. Nature should be respected. India can not survive without protecting the nature and environment. We have not done much to prevent and manage such disasters. Why so? We are a big nation and one of the fastest developing one. We need to have a very strong and effective Disaster Management System. There are many agencies but the coordination is not effective. There are many people who can do and are doing good work but they are scattered. Country needs a well coordinated system. One such can be:

Federation for Disaster Management.

It should not be a mere formality but should be formed by those who are sincerely working towards this. It will work right from national level to grass root level. It can be formed by representatives belonging to every district who are actively working towards disaster management of the region. They will look after the region and will object to anything happening or likely to happen in the region that can predispose to disaster, be it illegal construction or deforestation. Once they put objection, such activity should be stopped until jointly cleared by this federation, ministry of environment and other concerned ministries. Even after clearance, this federation will have first right to challenge the clearance in court. Only after clearance from court such activity should be allowed.They will also look after to make sure that quick alert and rescue system is in place.

We all have collective responsibility to make sure that no single life is lost due to greed or callousness. Nation building is a serious work and it can not happen without active participation of citizens.
